Gold of Kagan 2013: Friday. Day 3
Friday, 19 April 2013 23:40
The third day of the race has finished. G-Force Motorsport crews distinctly improved their positions: Vladimir Vasilyev finished second and Victor Volikov came third, so in overall they are 8th and 7th respectively. Sergey Fomin became 11th at finish line and 10th after the three days. Sergey Kiselev is 7th in T4 (trucks).
Boris Gadasin: A good day for the team. All the crews went without any technical and without great navigational problems. Vladimir Vasilyev was keeping the fast pace, though at the middle of the SS got a puncture and lost about 2 minutes. But near the finish he managed to win back a little so we can see a better position for him in overall now and the crew is quite able to fight for the podium tomorrow.
Victor Volikov had no problems with his wheels but unfortunately the crew made a mistake in a certain part of the track and lost about 5 minutes. However they went at a good pace. For the SS they lost not more than 2 minutes. That means, Victor Volikov is in the best three and, in my opinion, tomorrow the crew is also able to win the podium.
Sergey Fomin’s crew has a quite another task, they participate in a cross country race for the first time with such a serious car. The crew is just being “rolling in” and today they showed a good progress in the pace. While yesterday and today in the beginning of the SS they were slower than Production cars, by the end of today’s SS Sergey distinctly rose up the pace. Of course, he is just at the very beginning, and I am pleased to see that he is a serious-minded man who can become a good pilot, who started in a quiet pace and gradually picks it up, not breaking the car in vain. I think it’s the right approach that will fructify shortly.
I should mention also our truck crew, Sergey Kiselev and Alexey Ivanov. The major task for them is training before the Silk Way marathon. And the guys meet the challenge, they go without any technical problems or navigational mistakes and keep quite a good pace (for this truck).
Alexey Ivanov (co-driver of Sergey Kiselev, #507, T4): The day knocked the tar out of us. Almost 100 kilometers parts of the track covered with tussocks gave us a good shake, we were not able to drive there faster than 40-50 km per hour. Luckily, other parts of the track were quite fast, for good driving. We even made some jumps there.
